How Nitrogen Tyre Inflator Works?

A nitrogen tyre inflator fills a tyre with nitrogen gas instead of the more common compressed air. The nitrogen is typically generated by an onboard compressor and then purified to remove any moisture and other impurities before being injected into the tyre.

The main benefit of using nitrogen in tyres is that it is less susceptible to changes in temperature and pressure compared to air, which is mostly oxygen. Nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen molecules and, therefore, less likely to escape through the tyre’s sidewalls. This means that tyres filled with nitrogen will typically maintain their pressure longer and have less fluctuation in pressure due to temperature changes.

Another benefit of using nitrogen in tyres is that it can reduce the risk of explosion or fire caused by a build-up of heat in the tyre. Oxygen is more reactive and can cause a build-up of heat inside the tyre, leading to an explosion if the temperature becomes too high. Nitrogen, on the other hand, is less reactive, so it does not produce as much heat, reducing the risk of a tyre explosion.

The process of inflating with nitrogen typically involves using special equipment that can purify and dry the nitrogen to a level of 99.9% pure. In addition, the equipment typically includes a pressure gauge that allows the operator to monitor the pressure of the tyre while it’s being filled with nitrogen. The process is very similar to the traditional process of inflating with air; typically, the nitrogen is delivered to the tyre at the same pressure as the air.

It’s worth noting that it’s not always necessary to use nitrogen in tyres, and for most drivers and vehicles, using compressed air is perfectly fine. Nitrogen tyre inflation is primarily used for high-performance and racing vehicles and commercial and industrial vehicles that need to maintain consistent tyre pressure over long periods.

Which Gas is Filled in Car Tyres?

The gas that is typically filled in car tyres is compressed air. Air is a safe and inexpensive choice for inflating tyres, and it is also readily available at gas stations and service centers. Additionally, most cars come with an air compressor as standard equipment, which can be used to inflate tyres if needed……
